Workshop with Dr. Russell Kolts, Teacher in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT): CFT In Practice

Workshop Abstract

Appropriate for those who are new to Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) as well as veterans who wish to hone their understanding of how it can be applied with individuals who may initially be resistant to compassion work, this workshop will provide the participant with an introduction and orientation to CFT as a set of layered processes and practices that are designed to reinforce and deepen one another as well as to provide guidance in conceptualizing how to work with common treatment obstacles.

We’ll explore how the therapeutic relationship can be used to facilitate experiences of relational safeness in our clients, how to facilitate realizations in our clients that can help them shift from shame to self-compassion, and will introduce specific mindfulness and compassion practices to help clients turn toward the most difficult aspects of their lives and work with them.
